Lack of Sleep: How it is affecting your fitness?


Life Tip: When nothing goes right, go to sleep.


1- It is advised that you must take 7-8 hours of sleep daily. Sleep is as important as your nutrition. Mostly it is due to increase in our hunger that we lack sleep.

2- Researchers have found that sleep duration restriction to 5-5.5 hours per night lead to increase in calories about 240 per day.

3- Sleep restriction disputes appetite hormone i.e. Ghrelin & Leptin. When hormone Ghrelin increase our hunger increase and when Leptin increase the appetite decrease. So, hormone imbalance lead to increase in food intake.


Most of the people who are night owl must have faced night cravings. More you will awake, the more chances you have to eat. Scientists says that people who sleep for 4-5 hours tend to more active towards unhealthy (processed) food. While people who sleeps for 7-8 hours have better lifestyle and less active towards unhealthy food.


Prevent sleep deprivation:

  • Don't eat heavy and fried food before sleep.

  • Make a schedule for your sleep.

  • Be an early riser.

  • Increase relaxing habits like reading.


Conclusion: Not taking enough sleep makes you lazy, you don't take healthy food, you don't cook for yourself. Therefore, you order food online and eat unhealthy.
